Entertainment Software Association

Based in Washington, DC, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) works to protect the gaming industry’s First Amendment rights, intellectual property protection and enforcement measures, at both the federal and state levels. The ESA provides information and communications support that helps members promote the industry, their products, and games’ positive impact on society. 
 
ESA members have access to over a dozen working groups that help set the organization’s priorities. Members of the ESA include (but are not limited to) ActiVision/Blizzard, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Bungie, CI Games, Deep Silver, Disney Interactive Studios, Epic Games, EA, Gearbox Publishing, IntelliVision Entertainment, Konami, Magic Leap, Microsoft, Natsume, Nintendo, Nvidia, Paracosma, Riot Games, Sega Atlus, Square Enix, Take-Two Interactive, Tencent, Ubisoft, WB Interactive Entertainment, Xseed Games.
 
The Entertainment Software Association organizes and presents E3, an annual convention and trade-event for the video-game industry generally used by developers, publishers, hardware and accessory-manufacturers, to introduce and promote upcoming game releases and game-related merchandise to retailers and to members of the press. 
 
Before 2017 E3 was an industry-only event and closed to gaming fans and general members of the public. But in 2017 E3 became open to the public for the first time, offering general-admittance passes for those who wanted to attend. This is in addition to streaming media broadcasts of several of the press conferences to gain further exposure. Norally E3 takes place annually in June at its location, the Los Angeles Convention Center (LACC).
