Mount Everest is known to be the world's tallest mountain above sea level, reaching 8,848 m (29,029 ft), and located in the Mahalangur Himal sub-range of the Himalayas.

There are campsites better known as base camps at the base of Mount Everest that are used by hikers (not interested in scaling the mountain) and the mountain climbers during their ascent and descent. Approaching the base camps, expect to spend considerable time at altitudes between 11,000' - 17,100' which makes hiking more strenuous.

A physical conditioning program should be undertaken for at least 3 months in advance to prepare. South Base Camp is used when climbing via the southeast ridge, while North Base Camp is used when climbing via the northeast ridge. Climbers typically rest at base camp for several days for acclimatization, to reduce the risk of altitude sickness.

Make sure to observe and utilize navigational arrows that can appear on the photographic surface of this Google Streetview map to make your way through the tour path spaces and sequences.
