Atari Breakout is a block breaker arcade game developed and published in 1978 by Atari Corporation In which you hit the ricocheting ball to break off the colored blocks above until there are none left. If you fail to catch the ball with the paddle, the ball will disappear along the bottom of the screen, and you must serve one of your remaining balls. If you run out of balls to serve, the game is over.

Atari Breakout will let you choose between the different modes, progressive, random, single, double, cavity. Double will give you control of two paddles at the same time. Cavity has two paddles, but initially only one ball. The other balls are contained inside walls and can be freed. In the progressive mode, the entire wall will come downwards step by step.

The mechanics of Atari Breakout are straightforward, but attention to simple gameplay guidelines can help you attain your best score. Keep your eye on the ball. Get lined up for the next shot. Collect power-ups to boost your advantage. If you have a power-up you want to keep, avoid the other power-ups. The speed of the ball, and the possible return trajectories of the ball change after the 4th, 8th, and 12th hits from the paddle. When the ball hits the fourth row of bricks or higher, it automatically enters the fastest state that the ball can be in.

Atari Breakout is a retro arcade game produced in 1976, influenced by the success of the groundbreaking 1972 game, Pong. Atari Breakout was built by Apple Computer founders, Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs, with the concept designed by Nolan Bushnell and Steve Bristow.
