Why exactly is Mangle's fixed form called "Funtime Foxy"?

Beyond the fact that is causes confusion with the actual Funtime Foxy from Sister Location, doesn't just make more sense for it to be called "Toy Foxy"?

We know that Afton probably killed Charlie using a quick method without leaving a huge gory mess, but then wouldn't it make more sense if he snapped her neck or something? Is there some piece I'm missing?

Remember the ‘Afton cult’ theory?
submitted by /u/Solitaire-06 to r/fivenightsatfreddys [link] [comments]
For context, back when Help Wanted came out and we realised that Glitchtrap had possessed Vanessa’s body (leading to her becoming Vanny), several theorists began speculating that the rabbit mask seen at the end of the Curse of Dreadbear DLC was foreshadowing that not just Vanny, but other play-testers and employees of Fazbear Entertainment would fall under Glitchtrap’s influence and become a murder-cult of sorts, continuing William Afton’s grisly work long after his permanent demise in Pizzeria Simulator. Ultimately, they went with the Mimic as the franchise’s next big threat instead, but how would you have felt if they’d gone through with this idea, and had Vanny lead a band of Afton-worshipping, Glitchtrap-controlled disciples on a brutal killing spree? Not going to lie, seeing something like this - copycat killers inspired by Afton’s example - would be quite chilling to see, as it’d serve to remind us that in the end, the most terrifying monsters in this series aren’t the haunted/malfunctioning animatronics… it’s human beings.

The predators of FNAF
submitted by /u/Dodo-Typhoon to r/fivenightsatfreddys [link] [comments]
In FNAF there are two sorts of people. Those who hunt and those who are preyed upon. Predators lurk in the shadows, they’ll look normal but once in the shadows their disguise falters.
An example is William Afton. He is the colour purple because he is associated with the shadows, evil. He strikes when the time is right, i.e. the five missing children and Charlie. William Afton chooses a specific type of victim, children, those who are vulnerable.
William is an evil sadistic person, The shadows are entities that feed on human pain and suffering and death. In real world mythology demonic spirits prey upon the vulnerable, they trick, manipulate, and deceive those who are emotionally unstable. In FNAF world Shadow Freddy says “I will eat your soul.”
If you want to know more about how evil William is and how that makes him a shadow creature
In Frights most of our protagonists are people who are in a bad place emotionally. It is then revealed in the epilogues that Eleanor, a shadow creature, is the main villain of most of these stories in Frights. In Secret of the Mimic William Afton preys upon Edwin’s company, poaching his employees and ultimately stealing everything from him. When Afton senses a slip-up he doesn’t hesitate.
Hide and seek:
Toby’s eyes widened in shock, and he started to pant in short breaths. The shadow radiated fear and anger, and just like in his dream, the shadow loomed behind him, a predator waiting to strike. Toby felt the urge to cower into a ball on the floor. The shadow was too powerful. Too strong. And Toby knew he was too tired and too weak to fight it anymore. “Why are you doing this to me?” he yelled at the mirror. “I just want this done! Over!” Exhausted, Toby leaned his elbows on the bathroom counter, placing his face in his hands. Silent tears streamed down his cheeks. He finally accepted that he was never going to be rid of the shadow. It was going to stay attached to him forever. He’d tried everything he could think of to get it off. Nothing seemed to hurt the darkness. The more he tried, the bigger, stronger, and more horrifying it became, and the worse it made him feel. Maybe the shadow had attached to him so easily because he’d been in a bad place emotionally.
Afton’s first murder, Charlie, was Afton striking out from the shadows, a single murder meant to inflict as much wounds as possible. Charlie was vulnerable, locked outside by bullies with a back facing to the shadows. The evil the darkness keeps hidden then comes out to take this chance.
The first missing children incident victim shown is Susie. Scott is obviously trying to convey a message to us. In the Fruity Maze ending we see Susie crying. What’s specifically about this scene is the symbolism and attention to detail. There’s someone behind the girl, we all know his true intentions. Notice how the yellow rabbit is seen in the dark? Notice how it’s almost like he is apart of the shadows? Remember, demonic spirits/shadows prey upon the emotionally vulnerable. William was preying upon Susie, an easy victim. Tears are like trails. Outside regions untouched by humanity predatory animals locate their prey by following scent trails. Sometimes they track their prey via the scent of their blood.
Eleanor opened her mouth impossibly wide. Gooey black tendrils shot from it, slithered across the floor, then twisted around Larson, binding him. The tendrils were sticky and smelled like copper. Blood, thought Larson. They’re made of blood.
In Immortal and the Restless Vlad, a vampire, is believed to be a stand-in for William Afton. A monster that feeds on human blood and a monster who feeds on human pain and suffering.
”This is a safe place, this is a sanctuary.”
A safe place is refuge for the broken, shelter for those dealing with demonic attachment. A sanctuary, a place of protection and rest. The Crying Child is a broken emotionally, he’s always scared and is stressed out. In the mind of a child everything is out to get him. He doesn’t know what’s dangerous or not, he has nowhere to run but his happy place, this happy place is with his plushies, a quiet place as well. The Crying Child can also be considered a wounded spirit, emotional wounds.
Are they still...aware? I hope not. It keeps me awake at night. I could make myself...sleep. But not yet. Not until I undo what he has done and heal this wound - a wound first inflicted on me, but then one that I let bleed out to cause all of this. He set some kind of trap. I don't know what it was, but he lead them there again. He overpowered them again. And he robbed them of the only thing that they had. Again. I don't know how those tiny breaths of life came to inhabit those machines. But they will never find rest now. Not like this. I have to call them all back. All of them. Together in one place.
Henry’s monologue is a parallel to FNAF4. After beating night 6 the cutscene given is the Fredbear plush telling Crying Child that he is broken and that he needs to be put back together. His emotional wounds must be healed which means the pieces shattered by his trauma and negative emotions must be put back together. The Crying Child, who I will call Garrett from now on, is a perfect example of a victim preyed upon by the world’s many evils. The Fredbear plush is of no benevolence, it’s a cruel, manipulative, demonic entity that gets the Crying Child into situations where he is more fearful. He gives the child nightmares at night where everything he sees in the real world are projected into blood-thirsty killer versions of themselves. This mind manipulation is the reason why the Crying Child can’t differentiate between what’s dangerous or not.
In this last chapter of the Five Nights at Freddy's original story, you must once again defend yourself against Freddy Fazbear, Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, and even worse things that lurk in the shadows. Playing as a child whose role is yet unknown, you must safeguard yourself until 6am by watching the doors, as well as warding off unwanted creatures that may venture into your closet or onto the bed behind you.
What is seen in shadows is easily misunderstood in the mind of a child.
The Crying Child wasn’t the only one to have the nightmares. The same entity that tormented Crying Child is also feasting upon his brother’s guilt and regret, its symmetry. Like his brother, Mike is also a wounded person. Instead of fear and stress Mike is broken because of guilt and regret for causing the bite of 83. This wound attracts entities like Nightmare, also known as Shadow Freddy. The main message FNAF4 was trying to teach us was to let go, to let go of the past specifically. Mike was unable to forgive himself and is purposefully going into these dreams to find answers. If Mike had indeed let go of the past then he would be putting the pieces together, realise what this situation is doing to his mind. Mike needed to heal the wound and repel the demon attached to him. The FNAF4 box is the ending for Mike’s story. Had we solved the story then the box would’ve opened, the box would’ve opened to show Mike opened the most painful part of his life, facing the past, and then processing it so that it wouldn’t haunt him ever again.
(A more in-depth explanation of the box and why I believe this)[https://www.reddit.com/r/fnaftheories/comments/1lmztte/why_the_fnaf4_box_wasnt_opened/]
The answers Mike is trying to find is why his brother was so scared. In the movie Mike’s motive for having the dreams is to figure out who took his brother, but when translated to the games the big mystery should be why he was so scared. Mike needed to find the cause of the wound. The cause of the wound leads to the monster, Nightmare. FNAF4’s final night with the final boss: Nightmare, is a parallel to William Afton revealing himself at the end of the movie. Nightmare reveals himself because he’s the cause of these nightmares.
Mimicry and deception
A strategy predators use to lure their prey.
William Afton poses as the yellow rabbit, this disguise is able to deceive the missing children which is their ultimate downfall. Here, Afton, who is a grown-up with wicked intentions and eyes as dead as they could be, needs the allure of a child-friendly mascot to hide his face.
Of course this theme is also present in the very gameplay of FNAF. Mike, as a night guard, is being hunted down by the four mascots of the restaurant. It’s only when night falls that the murderous intention is revealed. A parallel to how the real monster was in the shadows all along. They pretend to be just like us, and they lie and deceive. They’ll gladly show the rot of humanity once they’re left alone with someone. William Afton as the yellow rabbit believes he is one of them, apart of the childrens’ “happiest day and family.”
The background check application was labeled “Dave Miller,” but it was unmistakably William Afton. Afton had been fat and affable; the man in the picture was sallow and thin, his skin sagging, and his expression unpleasant, as if he had forgotten how to smile. He looked like a poor facsimile of himself. Or maybe, Clay thought, he looked like he had dropped his disguise.
The disguise dropped is William Afton’s approachable look to the beaten and hard on the eyes Dave Miller.
There was something almost** immediately off-putting about the man.** He was tall and slightly too thin for his uniform, which bagged at the shoulders and waist, as if he had once been a more robust man, but lost his form somehow to illness or tragedy; his nametag, reading “Dave” hung askew on his chest. His skin was sallow and his eyes undercut by heavy lines, adding to the impression of longstanding ill health. (Special emphasis on how he is considered sickly)
Charlie looked at the man, considering him; the ill-fitting uniform, his peaky, almost exhausted-looking features. He really could kick them off the property or even have them arrested for trespassing, but still, she could not really fear him. His inadequacy shone through him like a kind of negative charisma. He would always be shoved to the back of a crowd; always shouted down in an argument; always picked last, forgotten, ignored in favor of those who were simply more vital, more vigorously attached to life. Charlie frowned at herself. It was an unusual train of thought for her— she did not usually assume she could read the lives of strangers through the lines on their faces.
Andrew put his agony in multiple items. This is described as him infecting them. In one of the seventh Frights epilogue the Afton amalgamation is said to have infected someone. This infection is caused by the amount of evil in Afton’s demonic spirit. ”I am Agony”
To describe William Afton with one word it would be venomous. If he can’t get his victims then surely the attack he inflicts would get them later on. Whether if its spiritual infection or abuse. In the movie William Afton abused and manipulated Vanessa, she was broken and then mended to fit into Afton’s own evil intentions.
The five missing children were trapped in metal prisons by Afton. Because the children are confused and angry they are willing to attack anyone who they think is their killer. FNAF1 is all about Afton’s family attacking grown-ups, it’s exactly what Afton wanted. Before Afton killed Charlie, Afton felt abused and mistreated, by other grown-ups especially. The death of Charlie was Afton striking out against the world, against humanity.
”We both wanted to love,” he said in those melodious tones. “Your father loved. And now I have loved.” “You killed,” Carlton said, then burst out with something that sounded like a laugh. He seemed more lucid now, as if anger were focusing his mind. He shook loose of Jessica’s hands on his arms and knelt down on the floor. “You’re a sick bastard,” Carlton sputtered. ”And you’ve created monsters. The kids you killed are still here. You’ve imprisoned them!” “They are home, with me.” Dave’s voice was coarse as he said it, and the large mascot head slid forward, tilting. “Their happiest day.” “How do we get out?” Charlie placed one hand on the mascot head and pushed it back into position on Dave’s shoulders. The fur felt wet and sticky, as though the costume itself were sweating. “There isn’t a way out anymore. All that’s left is family.” His round eye reappeared through one of the sockets, glimmering in the light. […] “Well then you’re trapped too, and you’re not going to be hurting anyone else,” John said in response to the veiled threat. ”I don’t have to,” Dave answered. ”When it gets dark, they will awaken; the children’s spirits will rise. They will kill you. I’ll just walk out in the morning, stepping over your corpses, one by one.” He looked at each of them in turn, as if relishing the bloody scene. “They’ll kill you, too,” Jessica said. “No, I am quite confident that I will survive.” “Really?” John said suddenly, “I’m pretty sure they’re the spirits of the kids you killed,” he all but spat the last two words at the guard. “Why would they hurt us? It’s you they’re after.” ”They don’t remember,” Dave said. “They’ve forgotten. The dead do forget. All they know is that you are here, trying to take away their happiest day. You are intruders.” He lowered his voice to a hush. “You are grown-ups.” They looked at one another. “We’re not—” Jessica began. ”You’re close enough. Especially to a vengeful, confused, and frightened child. None of you will survive the night” “And what makes you think they won’t kill you?” John said again, and Dave’s face took on something shining, almost beatific. ”Because I am one of them,” he said.
Here’s a fun fact, the children aren’t actually killers, well they don’t want to but they still are. It is William Afton imprisoning them that made them hunt for security guards. Afton believes he is one of them because they both share an idea that are alike but for different reasons. William Afton is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
Another character that shares this trait is Nightmare. FNAF4 reveals that Nightmare (Shadow Freddy) is the Fredbear plush via Nightmare Fredbear. In the survival logbook the Fredbear plush has a very malevolent grin. This means Shadow Freddy disguised himself as the Crying Child’s friend. Why? To deceive him, to become one of them. As one of the plushies The Shadow now has the trust of the child. The Crying Child has allowed Evil to grapple onto the parts that make him vulnerable.
In FNAF world the Fredbear plush can be seen telling the Crying Child this:
This is a safe place, this is a sanctuary. But something went wrong and now it can be seen here. Something went very wrong that’s why I am here. But I won’t let the same happen to you. I will put you back together.
This is the Crying Child’s safe place, a place meant for him to be left alone by all the potential dangers of the world around him. However these yellow eyes in front of him do not hold any good intention. The child is being lied to and deceived. On the topic of Frights in the second Dawko interview, Scott adds that the Blackbird character was based on his sleep paralysis demon. In the Frights epilogues it is revealed that Eleanor, an evil shadow creature was behind the short story Blackbird
This was a good thing, because Nole was not alone in his room. A demonic presence of tenebrous feathers was poised right above his bed. So Nole swung his bat. In the nanosecond he swung, or was it the nanosecond before he swung, the thing above Nole’s bed disappeared in an eruption of feathers that spewed throughout the room. Then the feathers vanished into nothingness. It happened so fast, Nole couldn’t be sure it happened at all. All he could be sure of was that he did swing the bat. He knew this because his lamp hit the floor. And another bulb bit the dust. The time span in which Nole had seen the feathered thing was infinitesimal. It wasn’t even a second. Nole’s room went from sound and havoc to utter silence and stillness in the blink of an eye. And yet... And yet, the image of what Nole had seen in that blink was burned onto his retinas. Because he hadn’t just seen feathers. He’d also seen souldrilling, malevolent yellow eyes and a pointed, threatening beak. Those eyes had locked on to Nole’s eyes. The sharp beak had aimed itself straight at Nole’s guilty heart. Nole was sure it was the Blackbird, leaning over him
The soul-drilling demon’s gaze doesn’t only happen to Nole. It happens to Jake too.
The smile supercharged Jake’s need to get free. He immediately tried to throw off his attacker. But she didn’t budge. Instead, she pinned him with extraordinary strength, and her round, animatronic eyes started to glow white-hot. The glaring light began to bore through Jake’s doll eyes, searing into him, reaching deep inside. The moment the light drilled into him, Jake felt the same evil he’d fought in the trash compactor. Only this evil felt stronger, like it was the core of what Jake had sensed in the things Andrew had infected.
In FNAF world Glitchbear/yellow eyes is all glitchy just like Shadow Bonnie from the FNAF3 minigame. Yellow Eyes from FNAF world is clearly demonic and evil.
This is what’s said by Evil in the story Dittophobia:
”You’re safe here, Rory,” the voice said. “This is your home. You’ve been watched over here. You’ve never been abandoned. Never left alone. All these years, you’ve been cared for. Because you’re special, Rory, and you deserve to live in this special place. Safe and secure. Never alone. This is your home.”
It’s almost the same as what Yellow Eyes in FNAF world is saying. Dittophobia means the fear of repetition. Most of Glitchbear’s dialogue in FNAF world are about a puppet-master leading us through loops. The puppet-master is Scott but I do believe that we should apply this theme to what Yellow Eye’s intentions are. Glitchbear instructs the player to find the clocks. The clocks are the pieces, the FNAF3 happiest day minigames, the Crying Child’s broken memories. We’re told to leave breadcrumbs for the child and that we’re putting the pieces in place for him. Once we set up all the clocks this is what Yellow Eyes tells us:
We are still your friends. Do you believe that? The pieces are in place for you. All you have to do is find them. Rest.
Were given context as to what the Crying Child is meant to find; his friends, the plushies. The plushies are put in place for him for him to find again. Once Crying Child finds them he can finally rest whole. Here’s the problem. He’s being played, it’s all a loop. The Crying Child finding the pieces is as likely as the box being opened which was never.
Millie flinched when a low-hanging fir branch brushed against her cheek. She batted it away and peered into the darkness beyond it. Where was her grandpa’s house? She’d just been there, hadn’t she? How could she have gotten this lost? Millie tugged her black sweater tighter around her. She rubbed her arms to get warm. She felt really chilled—even though the night wasn’t that cold. Before she’d left the house, she hadn’t wanted to be at the stupid Christmas dinner with all her stupid relatives. But now, for reasons she didn’t understand, that was the only place she wanted to be. […] ”You lost?” the boy asked. Millie shook her head even though she was. “I’m Jake,” the boy said. Then he took Millie’s hand. To her surprise, Millie didn’t resist at all. Instead, she let the boy— Jake—lead her through the woods. He didn’t lead her for long, though. In what felt like an instant, Jake was there and then gone. He disappeared, and Millie found herself on her grandpa’s front porch. Through the big picture window, Millie could see her family gathering around the table. Behind them, the Christmas tree was lit up just like it had been when she’d left the house. And for some reason, Millie was happy to see it. She was happy to see her family, too. Not sure why she felt so good all of a sudden—but not really caring, Millie rushed across the porch. She threw open the door and ran into the room. Her grandpa greeted her with a smile and a hug, which Millie... for once... was happy to receive. For the first time she could remember, Millie felt like she was home.
Millie is trapped by Eleanor in the ball pit on a looping memory, or a place with no exist.
”She’s not celebrating Christmas, remember?” Rob said. “Why should we wait for her if she’s decided to be a brat?” Grandpa didn’t like the word brat being used to describe Millie. She wasn’t a bad kid. She was just at a difficult age. She would come around. He crouched under the Christmas tree and arranged all her presents in a big pile so they’d be there for her when she came back.
This could be considered the places being in place for Millie.
Speaking of repetition/Dittophobia, the way in which Afton chose Rory for his experiments can be considered predatory.
”You ran away from home,” the voice said. “Don’t you remember?” Rory pushed his hair out of his face as he concentrated on what the voice was saying. I ran away? he thought. “You didn’t fit in at school, Rory,” the voice said. Rory’s questions suddenly didn’t feel important. Even though Rory couldn’t see who was speaking, the sound of the voice felt like a warm hug. He closed his eyes, and in his mind he could see a reassuring smile. “You had so much trouble in class, Rory,” the voice said. “You couldn’t understand the equations in math. You had trouble with your reading.” Rory frowned. Yes, he remembered that now. He hated school. He felt stupid when he was at school. He felt like he was wrong somehow, like he couldn’t get anything right. He felt like an outcast at school. Wade was his only friend. “And the girls, Rory,” the voice continued. “Remember how the girls thought you were wimpy?” Rory hunched his shoulders. He remembered that now, too. That was why he and Wade had built their clubhouse. Girls didn’t like Wade, either. So, they’d built a place where girls weren’t allowed. Not that any girls wanted to be there, but the small wood sign that had No GIRLS etched onto its surface made Rory and Wade feel like it was their choice not to have girls around. “You came here because you knew you’d be taken care of here,” the voice said. “You have been taken care of here. Here, you’re never an outcast. You’re never wrong. You’ve been watched over and cared for. That was something your parents never did, Rory. Remember?” […] Rory had hated feeling so left out. He’d always felt so wrong. He hated the feeling of being made fun of. He hated feeling stupid. Did Rory really want to go back to a world where he didn’t fit in? It had been ten years. He hadn’t learned anything in that time. He’d be so far behind. He’d be even more of an outcast than he’d been before. All he’d ever do was let people down. All he’d ever be was lonely. Rory’s eyes welled up, and tears began streaming down his face. No, Rory couldn’t go home. This place, no matter how fake, was now the only home where he fit in.
The fear experiments started as an endless supply for negative energies like agony and fear. Remember, evil feeds on these emotional energies. It’s only ever so fitting that Ultimate Custom Night is the very definition of repetition and eternal torment.

i mean, whether you believe in Retrofit or the Unwithereds we run into the same problem, under Retrofit the fazbear technicians had to have found the corpses while trying to modernize the animatronics
and under Unwithereds the corpses would have to be there in fnaf 2, except for Fritz because we don't see him in Foxy, but then the corpses would have to be found by the technicians who repaired the withereds and turned them into the classic ones, did they just throw them away when they found them?
